H.R. 262: Federal Death Penalty Prohibition Act
Sen. Dick Durbin and Rep. Ayanna Pressley have reintroduced federal legislation to end the use of the death penalty by the federal government.
The bill would prohibit death sentences for federal law violations and require resentencing for people previously sentenced to federal death row.
Death Penalty Action’s Abe Bonowitz said the current moment shows why Congress should confront capital punishment directly and move toward abolition.
