The WNY Coalition Against the Death Penalty is committed to ending capital punishment by means of life values, advocacy, community and education engaging and informing the public at large of the spiritual, moral and individual toll inflicted by the most extreme of punitive measures on the least of our brethren. We are a coalition of community, religious, social justice organization and individuals that respect the criminal justice system yet are moved by the inhumanity and disregard for human life that is antithetical to our commitment to human rights and dignity.

Death Penalty Action (DPA) works to stop executions and abolish the death penalty through advocacy, education, and action. Death Penalty Action provides high visibility resources, leadership, support, educational and direct action events and activities within the broader anti-death penalty movement.

DPA is prepared to assist various local, state and national groups in their work to end the use of the death penalty.

The mission of Back to Basics Outreach Ministries is to establish peace in our communities by responding to people who are vulnerable – creating hope and empowering change.

Back to Basics has served the Buffalo community for over 25 years. It was incorporated as a non-profit organization in 1996. Each year Back to Basics provides direct services to hundreds of at-risk youth and adults, as well as their family members. www.backtobasicsministries.org

BUFFALO PEACEMAKERS – The heart of our work is love. Every Peacemaker sees others as valuable. Almost all are believers who see each person as a child of God. Most at-risk youth we work with don’t feel good about themselves. They don’t feel valued or listened to. They don’t expect that when they become an adult there will be a good place waiting for them where they can earn a living and make a positive contributions.

Some don’t think they will live to be 25 years old. But we treat our youth with respect. We listen to them. And we help them believe they will succeed in life. They know that at least one centered adult believes in them and is there for them. And that makes all the difference! backtobasicsministries.org/peacemakers

St. Joseph University Parish Social Justice Committee – Believing with the universal church that action on behalf of justice is an essential dimension of the mission of the church and the preaching of the gospel, our Social Justice Committee is committed to education and action.

The themes are the heart of Catholic Social Teaching. The lived experience of our Judeo-Christian community, Scripture, and the Church’s teaching tradition are their foundations. The principles assist us in responding to our Baptismal call to holiness and participation in building a just society—all of us at the table—in God’s kingdom here and now.
